Having holidays on Curaçao without a car will mean you will miss many of its attractions, not in the least the beautiful beaches
on the whole south shore of the island. Furthermore, a car is very convenient when you go shopping or buying your groceries.
Supermarkets are located in shopping areas, most of the time to far to walk. Public transport is limited.
Roads on Curaçao are mainly good though in some places and during the ‘wet’ months there can be some holes in the tarmac, so
please drive carefully. Driving rules can be compared to most rules in Europe and the US (they drive on the right side of the road).
In Willemstad (inner city limits) the traffic may be busy some times of the day, but on the majority of the roads it is very quiet and easy to drive.
Antillean drivers are extremely polite in traffic, but be aware that this can lead to unexpected situations sometimes. It is not uncommon to
give way to cars who have to yield…So drive carefully and expect everything. Then you won’t have problems in driving on this beautiful island.
The cars we have available in cooperation with our local care taker (Villas & More) are used only by guests of the villa’s and homes of Villas & More,
so they will be in good condition. As an extra, all cars are members of the local Road Assistance who can fix any problem during your stay anywhere on
the island at no charges. They even come to fix a flat tire!
Cars are fully insured, however you have a own liability for damage to the car itself of € 450,-; you can reduce this to zero for a small surcharge
(see the rate section). Some cars can be rented to drivers under 25 years of age (surcharge, though they must
have their drivers license for a minimum of 1 year already). Apart from these, no (hidden) taxes or surcharges except 5% Government Tax.
Extra advantages of using our cars:
- we will bring you to the villa at no extra charge; of course we will bring you back to the airport too. Normal transfer rate is € 12,50 (about US $ 18,-) per person;
- The car is at your villa or condo: no waiting lines at arrival or departure at the car rental desks.
- we provide free children’s seats
- no limit in the amount of drivers, no surcharges;
- the car will be ready at the villa, so no waste of time after you arrived at the airport caused by waiting lines at the rental companies;
and no loss of time when you depart;
What you have to know:
- a deposit of € 250,- up to € 400,-, depending on the car (US 375,- up to US $ 600,-) per car (add € 450,- / US $ 675,- if you don’t
reduce the own liability), to be paid by bank or in cash at arrival (in Euro or US Dollars);
- the car must be left with a full tank and clean (inside, outside). If not, a surcharge applies;
- drivers age is 25 years minimum; some cars can be rented by younger drivers if the have a drivers license for 1 year or more
